Dear Lived-In, Real-Life Kitchens,
You are beautiful — from the curves of your snaking appliance cords to the Jackson-Pollock-esque spills on your backsplash.
The sink of dirty dishes from a meal well-loved. The crayon marks on cabinets from a childhood well-lived.
The intimacy you encourage with your unnatural lighting, awkward corners, and small footprint.
The rotating assortment of items (a single toddler sock, a screwdriver, a leaf…) that find their way onto every surface like artifacts in the museum of I’ll Put That Away Later.
You may shy away from Instagram in deference to those marble-coated, neutral-toned, stainless-steeled, pristine palaces.
But you – dear average kitchen – are the beating heart of this thing we call family life. You are worthy of celebration.
💛Tell Us Below: What Do You Love About Your Kitchen? 💛
#learningtower #toddlerlife #kitchenlove #familytime

Peep the platform heights…
The Lux Tower platform can be adjusted to 14.5 or 18 inches off the ground.
Prior to purchasing, families should consider:
🪜 Your counter height vs. platform height vs. child’s height distribution 🪜
AND
🪜 Child’s physical stage and skill 🪜
Age is secondary to the considerations above. However 18months+ is a good general rule of thumb for toddler towers.

Just in time for Spring…
Our Lux Tower boxes are in bloom, thanks to a custom illustration by @summerconnell.art.
What do you think of the new design?

When you think “toddler tower”, you probably think “kitchen.” And for good reason…these helper stools are ideal for getting kids involved in cooking and baking.
But choosing a foldable tower like The Lux makes it easy to move your helpers all around the home. Brushing teeth, watering plants, washing hands, feeding fish, adding detergent to the washing machine…wherever your little ones could use a leg up.
Here’s an unexpected way we used our Lux yesterday: to get a front row view to the palm tree trimmers down the street.
If you have a toddler tower, have you used it beyond the kitchen?

“We love our Lux Tower. It folds, it adjusts in height, and it’s so gorgeous and minimalist to look at.
There aren’t many towers like this out there, and especially not made in the USA. If you’re on the fence, go for it.”
– Kathleen 💛💛

Life with little people can be chaotic. Particularly in the kitchen, where you are often rushing through tasks like making meals, putting away groceries, or washing dishes.
A toddler tower can be really helpful in facilitating more meaningful kitchen interactions between caregiver and child.
Having a designated, safe place for your child to watch – or better yet, participate – allows families to stop and smell the flowers.

Can you believe it’s been 160 years?
It was in 1862 that U.S. carpenter John H. Balsley obtained a patent for his folding step ladder.
But the classic “A-frame” ladder design had been around long before then. After all, it was structurally sound – a safe and sturdy alternative to the freestanding ladders users previously had to prop up against walls.
Problem was, these A-frames took up a lot of space and were difficult to transport.
So Balsley added hinges, which allowed the back supports to fold in.
And now, when we think ladder, we think of the folding model Balsley innovated. There’s probably one in your house right now. Even the ladder emoji looks foldable 🪜
So why am I giving you a history lesson you didn’t ask for on this Tuesday morning?
Because non-folding toddler towers take up a lot of space and are difficult to transport.
Because, thanks in part to Balsley, a better solution exists.
And because we hope in the future when you think toddler tower, you think foldable.

Some version of this question or comment comes up often whenever a Lux Toddler Tower video gets some traction. So…
Short answer: You certainly don’t need our permission, but yes, of course your kid could reach the kitchen counter by standing on a chair!
Long answer: Chairs were not a viable solution for our family. Here’s a few reasons why – –
👩🏽🍳 We have twins, and wanted them to be on the same platform. This allows them to easily swap sides to focus on different parts of an activity, and allows them to interact and physically engage with one another without concern that anyone loses footing.
👩🏽🍳 We spend a lot of time in the kitchen, baking and crafting, etc. so it made sense to invest in something designed for that specific purpose – something comfortable to stand on, with just the right amount of safety measures in the right places.
👩🏽🍳 The adults are in charge of when the toddler tower comes out and where it goes. Unlike a chair, the Lux is too heavy for a child to move on their own and it can be locked/stored away. This allows us to create clear boundaries about what they can stand on to participate in the kitchen. Asking a grownup to get out the tower? Yes. Deciding on their own to drag in chairs, pillows, toy boxes to play in the sink or reach the toaster? No.
So if a toddler tower fits your family’s needs, great! We have a fantastic, foldable option for you to consider.
And if a chair fits your family’s needs. That’s great too!

“If you’re in the market for a learning tower, stop searching — you’ve found it!
So beautifully made, and functional.
I love that it folds because so many are so bulky, and our kitchen is tiny, so I thought we wouldn’t be able to get one, but ROAM made it possible. We love ours!”

Foldable Wooden Lux Towers Made in San Diego
Ahh the kitchen — the heart of the home, and, for families with small children, often the heart of the chaos as well.
Because where there is a parent in the kitchen with a mission – washing dishes, putting away groceries, cooking meals – there is a child making it ‘mission impossible’ by tugging at pants legs, dumping the dog food, or sneaking another string cheese.
The solution? A learning tower that gets little ones out from underfoot and up to counter-height where they can see, explore, create, and engage!
Whereas most learning towers on the market introduce more problems than they solve thanks to lackluster functionality and mind-boggling bulkiness, our lux learning tower is both beautiful and beautifully practical.
Our patent-pending design combines single-action foldability with a height-adjustable platform — making it intuitive to use today, and as your child or family grows in the years ahead.
More features you’ll love:
- Available in Single or Double (to accommodate multiple children)
- Platform height adjusts to 14.5 inches or 18 inches
- Sturdy and sleek frame

So whether you want the whole family to join in on Sunday morning pancake making, or you need to buy yourself a few minutes of peace by letting your toddler splash in the sink; our hope is that the Lux makes the heart of your home a bit more harmonious.

Getting your child to be your new kitchen helper might sound like a mess that’s waiting to happen, but, in truth, it has a lot of benefits that can foster a healthy relationship — not only when it comes to food but also in terms of family.
As well as letting you spend more time bonding with your child, involving them in meal preparation will teach them early on about the importance of making nutritious food choices that they can carry over in their adult life.
Considering the above, allowing your child to become your little kitchen helper as early as their toddler years will positively impact their development as they grow — and this is when foldable Learning Towers for toddlers can come in handy.
Best Kitchen Helper for Toddlers
A collapsible learning tower for toddlers can be the best assistant your new kitchen helper will have when it comes to learning about the exciting ways they can lend a hand to mom and dad in the kitchen. The learning tower is a simple yet durable tool that kids 12 months and up can use to reach high places like the kitchen table, counter, or sink. With a wooden learning tower, you also won’t worry about their safety as it can support the weight of toddlers, allowing you to focus on having fun with them as you do simple kitchen tasks.
With a toddler tower, you can help your child learn about essential life skills, such as:
Responsibility and Self-Reliance
Teaching your little kitchen helper to prepare their meals will encourage them to be more responsible and self-reliant by getting them to complete simple kitchen activities by themselves. A toddler tower can also help kids reach things much easier with little to no adult assistance.
Basic Mathematical and Scientific Concepts
Following a recipe involves measuring, counting, and dividing the food or ingredients into portions. Kids will also get to learn the concepts of heating, cooling, or boiling ahead of their peers. Additionally, they will also engage different senses such as touch, taste, smell, and sight while cooking. Their foldable learning tower will give them the best view of what happens when cutting veggies or cooking meat, all from a safe distance.
The Importance of Hygiene
Learning towers for toddlers can help you teach them how to properly wash their hands before, during, and after meal preparation. Besides practicing personal hygiene, a toddler learning tower can help them reach the sink to wash food like fruits and vegetables.
Why Buy The Lux Tower From Roam Creative Play?
As well as teaching your kitchen helper about the joy of meal preparation and cooking, The learning tower offers many other benefits. It’s also an incredibly flexible tool your child can use for all sorts of playtime activities that can help refine their motor skills and bodily coordination. With its foldable safety handlebar, you can also be sure that your child won’t just slide off when going up or down their toddler tower.
Here are some other reasons why our folding learning tower can be one of the best educational tools for your child:
Made in San Diego
Our learning towers for toddlers are all made from locally sourced materials from San Diego, California. Available in both Baltic Birch and Poplar wood, The learning tower can handle a weight limit of 200 lbs. You can even get a double learning tower if your kitchen helper happens to be a pair. With its modern design and smooth finish, The learning tower is one of the best gifts San Diego parents can get their child.
High-Quality Towers for Your Child
Aside from its durable and beautifully crafted design, The learning tower has an all-natural food-grade organic wood coating that doesn’t contain any harmful toxins or chemicals that can put your little kitchen helper in danger. Our wooden learning tower also provides ample space with a width of 18 inches, a depth of 17 inches, and a height of 36 inches, with the platform height being 18 inches.
When used as a kitchen learning tower, these dimensions can reach most kitchen tables and counters, letting your child feel like they’re doing tasks that are just as important as those done by mom or dad.
Unique Folding Design Provides Easier Storage
Cleaning up and putting things away is just as important as learning how to cook, bake or prepare meals. With our collapsible learning tower, you can teach kids how to tidy up, as our folding learning tower can be easily stored or hung even in tight spaces. Our learning towers for toddlers aren’t bulky and can work even for houses with limited square footage.
& More
Getting your child a toddler tower can also help them with other activities, such as putting up stickers or decor on the wall, doing arts and crafts, or if they want to reach something from a height. You could even bring a foldable learning tower to a game or while camping indoors.
There are many ways you can use a toddler learning tower, not just as a kitchen learning tower. Get one for your child and watch them develop into an independent, well-rounded kid with a foldable learning tower.

If your in the market for a learning tower, stop searching you’ve found it! So beautifully made, and functional! I love that it folds because so many are so bulky and our kitchen is tiny so I thought we wouldn’t be able to get one, but roam made it possible! We love ours!!!
Lisa Sato –
Absolutely LOVE this great quality learning tower. It’s very well made and our almost 5 year old loves it. It’s allowed her to help us easier around the kitchen and we’ve been able to make so many messy and fun memories.

I am SO in love. This is my third purchase from Roam creative play and yet again, I am BLOWN AWAY! My son is only 15 months old but I have had my eye on the learning tower since he was much younger. I finally bit the bullet and placed my order taking a chance that he would be ready. While waiting for my order, I did my best to teach my son the practicals (mix, pour). Today as we put him in the learning tower for the first time, his eyes LIT UP and I have never seen my son soooooooo excited and eager in his life! This learning tower has opened up an entire world for my mister that just nurtures his independence! We couldn’t be more happy with this! It’s beautifully crafted and sturdy-no anxiety around it’s reliability! YAY FOR NO MO FOMO!
Meghann –
This is the BEST learning tower ever!! We don’t have a large kitchen so I love the convenience of it being able to fold up! Also the fact that it’s adjustable heights is incredible. My 2 year old is tall for her age, so I have a feeling we would need to adjust it sooner than later. Before buying this she would throw a fit if we didn’t hold her in the kitchen or set her on the counter to watch. Now, the moment we step into the kitchen, she’s right there on her tower ready to help. Even if she’s just watching, she’s so much happier being at a height she can see! We’ve even used it for wrapping presents with her. It’s versatile, compact, adjustable, and beautiful! What more could you want?
Ann (verified owner) –
I really love this learning tower. I bought another one for my first child and it was nice but flimsy and took up quite a bit of floor space in our tiny house. I like that this tower can be folded up and stored on the wall to save space!
Betsi –
We absolutely love our luxe tower! The quality is amazing and it folds away so easily. It’s perfect for our little home. Most importantly, out toddler is obsessed!
Kathleen (verified owner) –
We love our Lux Tower. It folds, it adjusts in height, and it’s so gorgeous and minimalist to look at. There aren’t any towers like this out there, and especially not made in the USA. If you’re on the fence, go for it. It also cleans up easily (Nia taught me to use a Magic Eraser!). Graig was super easy to get in touch with in terms of customer service and questions that came up, and Nia posts tons of helpful and useful info on the Roam Instagram.

I was so excited when Roam released their new learning tower. As with all their other pieces, this product is both beautiful and functional. My son (20 months) loves it and so do I!
Mandi (verified owner) –
I absolutely love this tower! It’s so easy to unfold and fold to put away. It’s not large and clunky like some other towers I’ve seen. Perfect solution to a home with not a lot of space. We also received our tower almost two months ahead of schedule (it arrived in time for Christmas when originally i was told i wouldn’t get it till almost February!) Great business and great product.
Kathryn Hayes (verified owner) –
Love everything about this tower EXCEPT where one of the stability bars is located. Where it is located in the front allows the child to climb on it and use it as a ladder and get up on the counter or tip. Poor design flaw. If that issue were ever fixed I would recommend this to everyone and would get another for my next kid.
Graig at ROAM –
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and for bringing up an important point: The location of the upper back support rail is positioned where it must be to maintain the structural integrity of the product, and while we certainly understand kid’s propensity to climb any and everything (that urge to climb is the origin of our business), it is crucial that our products are used only under adult supervision, and that the supervising adult enforces safe use.
Samantha (verified owner) –
Absolutely in love! We use it every single day, and even with the convenient fold ability we leave it out most times because it’s just so pretty. Thanks for making such a quality product!
Kim Carr (verified owner) –
I bought this Tower for my 18 month old grandson who loves to help in the kitchen. He can climb into it and stand at the counter helping Mom cook. My daughter requested this gift for Christmas and can’t say enough good things about the craftsmanship and joy of having it for our grandson. Thank you!
Kyla –
Having this tower for safe exploration/collaboration with our toddler has been fantastic. She may not be the neatest sous-chef, but we’ve been able to make memories without the stress of her safety. The quality of the tower is great and we appreciate the ability to support a small business made for growing babies.
